From writers' web again - remember I told you about this in August, then shared more reviews in September...
Up for review this week are two picture books written and illustrated by child authors.
The Perfect Pet - Sophie is looking for the perfect pet… but is it right in front of her?
What did our reviewers think about this picture book for one to six year olds?
Oliver enjoyed this story and could relate to the problems Sophie was having finding the perfect pet. Oliver’s dog also chews shoes so he thought the story was funny. It was an easy to read book and the pictures were well detailed. Oliver Murphy
The Perfect Pet was great especially the plot and the structure. The plot gave off tension and meaning. Caitlin Shore
My 5 year old and I really enjoyed reading the Perfect Pet. We were engaged by the storyline and the colourful drawings. The story is about choosing a pet and finding that many pets have a drawback. It is well-written and follows a good format for young readers to follow. I would recommend it for 2 to 8 year olds and it is a good home reader for students. We are keen to read your next book. Kasper Beaumont
Ten year old Isabella Munoz (right) is the author of The Perfect Pet. Her sister, Georgia and brother, Luke and her cat called Elvis, all star in her book!
Lolly Polly Luck - When the rainbow runs out, there’s nothing much to do but to go to rainbow land and get a new one. But on the way, there’s not much Lolly Polly Luck
Our reviewers really enjoyed this picture book for one to six year olds.
Lolly Polly Luck was awesome and I encourage Breeanna to keep on writing. The illustrations were great and the vocab was even better. The plot structure and sequence was also marvellous. Caitlin Shore
I can’t believe this fantastic book was written by a 9-year-old. It’s just wonderful and took us on a fantastic journey into a land of magical rainbows. We really enjoyed the drawings. I’d recommend this book for children of all ages. Every home should have one and I can’t wait for the next story. Kasper Beaumont
Nine year old Breeana Dennis (right) wrote and illustrated Lolly Polly Luck, with a little help from her family. She says, "Making this book has meant a lot to me. I thank everyone for being so kind and patient. I hope you enjoy reading my book."
Both these books are available in either hard copy ($24.95) or eBook ($4.95).
